Tastes in stone surfaces have evolved over time. At Home Floor Décor, we now primarily work with granite and engineered quartz but also have experience with marble, slate and other materials both natural and manufactured.
Granite:
Whether you’re looking for the counter top for your kitchen or a beautiful addition to your bathroom vanity, Granite has become the top choice for anyone looking for elegance and durability. Granite is a natural material, an igneous stone which is mined and cut into slabs and usually polished. Also, Granite is extremely resistant to moisture, scratches, and bacteria which has made it the consistent choice for those who want a surface that is stunning and will last a lifetime
As a natural material, it has irregular patterns and the appearances of colors and patterns of slabs can vary between slabs.
Quartz (Engineered Quartz/Stone)
Quartz countertops are becoming a popular alternative to other natural stone surfaces. Quartz is a composite material constructed of crushed quartz stone bound together with bonding agents to form desirable colors and patterns that mimic natural materials. It is also extremely hard and is available in a wide range of patterns and colors. These countertops are made by mixing about 95% ground natural quartz with about 5% of polymer resins and pigments. Because of this mix, homeowners are able to choose from a huge range of colors, not limited to the natural colors of the quartz. They’re also durable and low maintenance. Quartz is ideally suited for countertops, vanities, bar tops, reception areas, conference rooms and many other surfaces throughout residential and commercial
